Spent the day working hard on putting up these posters so kids can START THE READING CHALLENGE! Thank you to the Grew and Principal Wright for a wonderful day. Thank you to all the great students there who welcomed me. I love when I hear how all of you are reading at home! Remember let the mercury rise on these thermometers to 100% to show how everyone is reading at home! Turn in those reading logs too!
Spring Equinox, also called the Vernal Equinox, is the first day of spring. On this day, which falls on March 20th, 2014, there are exactly 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. From this day on, the sun will continue to climb higher in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere, inching towards summer, and will sink lower in the sky in the Southern Hemisphere, inching towards winter.

LAST Friday was an exciting day! IT WAS PI day! Pi is an important number you will get to know in MATH! VERY COOL! It equals 3.14159 (and goes on and on!)
Mr. Rogers is an incredible man. A kind man. A gentle MAN. His birthday was on THURSDAY (yesterday) and I wanted to make sure we wished him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He died in 2003 at 74 BUT his memory lives on. HERE are is one of my favorite quotes from him:
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers--so many caring people in this world."
Sorry for the delay in posting this photo! Here are some fabulous hats from HAT DAY at the Beethoven.
WHAT A TREAT. WOW. There is nothing like going up and down the hallways and being greeted by students smiling and cheering, "I love to read"! Thank you for a more than warm welcome. I can't wait to get back to see how your thermometers are filling up as you continue to read at home! Enjoy the video and the pictures! A special thank you to Ms. Sheridan and to Ms. Antonelli for welcoming me and taking time to share with me how the BPS Time to Read Campaign is working in your schooL! More videos to come!
